Prevent and protect

Gingivitis has one cause – plaque. If you combat this cause directly by removing plaque and inhibiting new growth and not just addressing the symptoms, you will be well protected.

Thorough cleaning is important – even at home every day

By brushing your teeth twice a day, supplemented by cleaning and rinsing all spaces between your teeth once a day, you prevent the accumulation of bacterial plaque and reduce the overall number of bacteria in the mouth. Antibacterial toothpaste and mouthwash solutions can supplement manual cleaning. It is also important to visit the dentist regularly and have your teeth professionally cleaned.

How do you flow?

At least once a day, preferably before bed. By cleaning with dental floss, you can also reach hard-to-reach areas between teeth that a toothbrush cannot reach.

The right length

The floss should be long enough, about 50 centimeters of thread in total.

Clean upper jaw

Wrap dental floss around your middle finger and stretch it over your thumb so you have 2cm to clean.

Clean lower jaw

Wrap dental floss around middle finger, stretch over index finger, clean lower jaw.

The correct tooth brushing technique

Brush your teeth at least twice a day, morning and evening. The choice of your toothbrush should depend on the condition of your gums. Ask your dentist for advice.

Cleaning of external surfaces

Clean the outside surfaces of your upper teeth and then your lower rows of teeth. Hold the brush at a 45° angle to the gums and brush away from the gums. Clean each tooth thoroughly with short brushing movements.

Cleaning of interior surfaces

First clean the inner surfaces of your upper row of teeth, then those of the lower row. Clean each tooth thoroughly with short brushing movements.

Finally: cleaning the chewing surfaces

Thoroughly clean each chewing surface with short brush movements. And don't forget to clean your tongue either.

Regular dental visits and prophylaxis

Dentists and dental hygienists can detect the first signs of gum problems early. The causes such as plaque and tartar are also discovered and eliminated during regular check-ups with your dentist or as part of a professional teeth cleaning.

At the end of the professional teeth cleaning, the tooth surfaces are polished with special pastes and polishing cups. This means plaque can no longer stick as quickly.
